An Updated Studio....
It's been a while since I've updated any changes we've made on our little house. For now, I'll leave you with a few photos from my studio....

Master Bedroom Before and After....
It's been quite some time since I've shared any before and afters of our home. If you've been a reader for any length of time you already know that we bought the house in very poor condition in 2008. You can see more photos of it's progress by clicking on the Before and Afters tab located at the top of the blog. Ready?

As with all of the other posts, I've tried to capture the same angle of the before and after shots in order for you to see things from a similar perspective. And while it's the smaller of the two rooms in the house, we have never regretted choosing this one for our room.
Thanks for stopping by....have a great weekend!

Where I Create....
Good Monday morning!
I spent some time this weekend taking some never seen before shots of our house for an upcoming guest post I'm doing and thought I'd give you a sneak peek today.
As I'm sure you already know, most of the colors in my home tend to be on the earthy side. I love the way chocolate brown looks with cranberry red and it doesn't matter what time of year it is! But it's in the studio that I let my love for pink shine!
I love it! I'm constantly on the look out for more pink, black and white stuff for my side of the room. Although truth be told, if I had opened the doors to our desk you would have noticed that some of it is starting to creep over into that area as well! Hey, a girl can't help it if she prefers everything to match!
I hope you have a good day and that you return on Wednesday for the guest post from a very talented blogging friend!

PS - Congratulations to Barbie Swihart for winning the card and gift card from the Being Refined As Silver Giveaway!

Garage Before and After......
I've said many times that I love before and after shots of houses. I find them extremely motivating and hope that you do too! While the garage isn't my "domain", the before and afters speak for themselves. Be warned, the before shots are not for the faint of heart!
We were required to clean up the garage before financing would go through. Yes, you read that right.....we had to clean out garbage that didn't belong to us. I assure you that it was one of my least favorite aspects of buying the house!

And now.....

Isn't it amazing what a little clean up and paint can do?
Have a good afternoon!
Many Blessings,
M.

Before and Afters Day Four.....
Hi all!
Today I'm showing the outside of the house. It's amazing what a little clean up and paint can do isn't it?
This has been a lot of fun! I hope that you will be encouraged to take the leap and make something less than perfect into a retreat for you and your families. I'd love to see some of your before and afters as well so be sure to post them in the comment section of this post so I can visit!
Many Blessings,

Before and Afters Day Three.....
Good morning!
It's a busy day as I have a class this afternoon. I'll be sure to post the cards that we make here early next week but for now, it's day three of the before and after shots of our home....
The most memorable part of looking at the house the first time was the smell....it was awful. I would breathe through my mouth while covering part of it for fear that a bug would fly in! I finally started carrying room spray with me when we would come over and walk through it. It was only after we finally got the house that I found part of the culprit of the smell....a rotting onion in a kitchen cabinet. It was an experience I'd rather not have to re-live again!
Unfortunately, we were left with a lot of garbage from the previous owners so clean up was a huge job. Here is the state the kitchen was left in....
I just snapped these pictures last night and had to take two because I chose the world's biggest refrigerator when we moved in. But in my defense, it didn't look that big in the store! While the kitchen has not been remodeled we do have plans to do so eventually. I find myself in there a lot these days as I do more cooking and baking and can't help but think of the other women before me that stood in the same place. I can imagine the original owner smiling as she prepared a meal for her family in her brand new kitchen in 1956....and that makes me smile too....even when I'm hand washing my dishes!
Have a good day!
Many Blessings,
M.

Before and Afters Day Two....
Before we moved, I went through all of our belongings and purged what was no longer used and/or needed. Goodness knows that when you live in a space that's technically just under 800 square feet, you have to pay attention to what comes in and out!
I tend to keep knick knacks and such at bay because they can quickly get out of control. I opt for things that I believe are beautiful and functional at the same time and it's proven to be a smart strategy for us. While our home isn't always picture perfect, we are almost always company ready because of the lack of clutter....
This is kind of fun! What kinds of things do you do to keep clutter under control?
Many Blessings,

Before and Afters.....
One of my favorites types of posts on homemaking blogs are before and after photos....so I've decided to share a few of my own!
Chris and I purchased our home in August of 2008. It was a long and grueling process and one of the most challenging times our marriage. I say if you can make it through a remodel, you can make it through anything! We moved in on September 30th, 2008 and then had a house fire on November 28, 2008 causing us to move into a hotel for two months. It was during that time that I realized that our little house had become my home and I've looked at it that way ever since.
Today we have trim around all the windows and doors thanks to my very hardworking and handy husband. Please join me for the rest of the week as I share more pictures from around our home!
