A Couple of Cards.....

Despite my best intentions of getting in some significant stamping and/or scrapbooking time last week, I was only able to set aside time for a couple of cards. This week however, I think I might actually get to spend some time creating! Woo-hoo!

This is a belated Mother's Day card for my mother in law who was out of town on Mother's Day. I wasn't sure I was going to like the Poppy Parade In Color when it came out in the Stampin' Up! catalog last year but I've got to say that it's awfully cheery! I think you'll be seeing it a little more this summer as I use it while it's still available.

And this is the card I made for my dad and father in law. I had been pondering this sketch ever since I first saw it and finally decided to use it for Father's Day. While masculine cards have been difficult for me in the past, The Open Sea stamp set and the Nautical Expedition DSP sure made this years card a snap! I'd highly recommend both of these items!

That's all for now....be sure to stop back by later this week and see what I get accomplished with a little me time! :o)

Will this be the Year?......

Will this be the year that I don't think through nursery plans and birthday party themes?

Will this be the year that I wake up on Sunday morning and not dread the "Happy Mother's Day!" greetings from well meaning church members at the door?

Will this be the year that I don't gaze upon the beautiful face of a child and feel the ache of empty arms?

Will this be the year that I don't think through the 1 Samuel words about Hannah...."and the Lord remembered her"?

Will this be the year that I'm able to focus on how blessed I am to have a mother who accepts me unconditionally instead of wishing the day would just be over?

It's not my intention to bring about words of sympathy because of this post but to shed some light on how difficult tomorrow is for tens of thousands of men and women. Loss of any kind is a difficult road to travel and one that can be lonely even when you are surrounded by others. I pray for those who will never experience the love at first sight of seeing your newborn. I pray for those who have endured the devastating loss of a child. I pray for those who have children and neglect them. I pray for those with adult children who have left the home in a less than ideal way. And I pray that tomorrow you will kiss your babies just a little more often, hold your momma's in an embrace just a little bit longer and show just a little more kindness to those who are in a battle of heart wrenching proportions.

Will this be the year?

Better Late than Never....

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all of you! It turned out to be a whirlwind weekend for us so I waited until this morning to post again.

My mother in law loved her card and so did my mom. How can you not when the roses are so beautiful? Here's my mom's:

And in celebration of both our mother's....

Mother in Law Card......

Boy, everything's coming up roses around here lately isn't it?! I've been hard at work on making projects and today is class day so this is a short and sweet post.

Today's project is my MIL's Mother's Day card and is a new technique for me. It was so easy and breathtaking if you ask me....that's why we are doing it at my class tonight!

Thanks for stopping by!

Many Blessings,
M.
