My Best?

Photo from Susan Rios

I don't know if it's because I turned 35 on the 4th of July, or if it's this particular season of my life, but I've been thinking a lot about a statement I read on a blogging friend's site about a month ago. I'm not going to repeat everything Michele said, but here's a paraphrased version...

What would my life look like if I gave my best each day?
What if I really focused and regardless of how tired or overwhelmed I felt, I gave it my all?

These words have been running through my head over and over ever since I read them and I can't help but wonder how they pertain to my faith and the rest of my life. I know when I'm tired or overwhelmed, the first thing I do is cut back on the duties I have set out before me and only do the minimum that's required. But how does that glorify God? And how different would my life look if I were to do my best each day? For a whole month? For a whole year? Or for the rest of my life?

Am I the only one that has these kinds of thoughts? Please tell me I'm not crazy and that some of you have pondered similar things!

Many Blessings,
M.

PS - Thank you Michele!

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:22-24 (ESV)

Your post reminded me of the scripture above. And I think of this on an almost daily basis ;o) What would the Lord think of how I'm doing this particular job right now? Am I doing it with joy for Him? Or am I grumbling (confession... I'm usually grumbling)?

Our lives would look SO much different, at least mine would, if I gave Him my best each & every day. Doesn't He deserve our best, we certainly have the best of Him each and every day! Thank you for this convicting post ;o)

Sometimes we feel like the only ones going through a journey...but isn't it amazing how there are so many of us going through similar experiences and yet in this huge world we find each other?

I love how God brings us together to uplift, inspire and encourage! My journey this year has only been a short 6 months (time flies!!), yet God has done so many things! Some have been amazing, but most are subtle, building one on top of the other to create a magical transformation over time that only God could design.

Some days I look and think, "Have I really done anything? Have I accomplished anything of real significance?" But then I look back and see the trail of God's hand in every area. He's changed my heart, my mind and my focus and the sense of peace I have knowing He's in control is worth more than I could ever express.

My prayers are with you as you traverse this journey...I'm so glad we found each other (: It's always nice to have an extra shoulder when the heavy lifting of the soul begins (:

    Blessings,
    Michele
